Jordan Mielke Marrys Samantha Neuroth

Jordan Mielke and I got married at the Gerold Opera house in Weyauwega on July 30th, which was somewhat revolutionary since we’re told that despite all of the historical events that have happened at the opera house, there had never been a wedding there before ours. Since we were moving to Kansas right after the wedding, we decided to have our wedding serve as a goodbye party as well, and we invited everyone and anyone who wanted to come. As we had hoped, the theater was full for the ceremony. It was such a great feeling to see everyone who came to support us and say goodbye. I walked down the aisle to “Mariokart Love Song” by Sam Hart, and the ceremony was riddled with other Super Mario Brothers elements. My mother, Jordan, my bridesmaids and I made all of the decorations, which were entirely paper. The stage and tables were decorated with origami cranes, pinwheels, and paper flowers. It was a lot of hard work, but it ended up looking incredible and it completely payed off. The ceremony was followed by a vegetarian dinner, which was also prepared by family members and the wedding party, and was surprisingly well received by our non-vegetarian guests. I had my first dance with Jordan to “January Wedding” by The Avett Brothers, and then the father-daughter dance to “Sunshine on my Shoulders” by John Denver. Eventually the guests started to trickle out, and by the end of the night the only remaining people were our close friends. My friend Dale Dobbe showed up with his guitar and volunteered to play some songs for us as a wedding gift, and everyone danced like crazy! Finally we left the theater to our family and friends waving us off, and passersby in their cars honking and giving us thumbs-up. The next day we opened our gifts, and we ended up having enough cash to buy a car to get us down to Kansas! We are extremely grateful to everyone who came to the wedding, and to everyone who made our move possible.
