This is the story of Nils Anton Lindskog as told by Goran Swernfeldt. After reading this account I have come to the only logical conclusion, Nils Anton Lindskog & his lineage are Lindskoog Family Members, and I have added them to the official Lindskoog Family Tree, the Lindskoog Family Roster, & to the Lindskoog e-mail list. I would like to be the first to welcome them, with open arms, into our family. Note, this was written prior to the birth of Isabella Maria Lindqvist.

I’m living 10 miles from Nosaby, today a part of Kristianstad Community (Town). Quite often I visit Nosaby and the graveyard – the beautiful Church. Only 100 meters from my parent’s tomb is the tomb of Jöns Lindskog and his wife Karna. (see photo)
Thanks to the finding of this grave I got in contact to people who are relatives to Your Lindskoog Family. They are grandchildren to Nils J Lindskog’s sister Maria in Kristianstad. She was born in Nosaby in 1880 and married to the name Persson. I have met them and borrowed letters written by Nils J Lindskoog to Sweden (1929-1959). I have also talked to my aunt Inga (Nils Anton’s daughter), today 92 years old. Reading churchbooks from Nosaby I have found: Nils J. Lindskog (Nb spelling) left Nosaby and moved to North Amerika April 18th 1890.
Looking into Population register Nils J Lindskog born September 29th 1870 and lives at Åraslöv 1, Nosaby.
It also says Karna is widow after Jöns Lindskog (died in 1887) In the household also lives Karnas children Alfred, Augusta, Anna, and Maria. August has moved to Karna’s sister in Fjälkinge, close to Nosaby. August, Augusta will later follow Nils to North America.
In the same period miss Ingrid Persson is living in Nosaby. She is my grandgrandmother and give in August 25th 1890 birth to a son and named him Nils Anton. He is born called “oäkta”, which means illegitimate child. In Population register you see he also is given the family name Lindskog – but it doesn’t prove any Lindskog was his father. But why give him that name?
Ever since my young days my mother has told me that my grandfather had a dad who left Sweden and moved to USA. From my aunt Inga I got a clip from the local newspaper Kristianstadsbladet. It’s a article regarding Nils J Lindskoog celebrating his 80 years anniversary. At the “paperclip” is written ”Far Nils Far – De har aldrig träffats”. It says: Father Nils Father – They have never met.
I have read all letters from I borrowed from Nils J Lindskoog’s sister Anna’s relatives. Nils is a frequent and eager writer. Many letters are about Sweden and Nosaby, but I can’t find anything regarding a son in Sweden. One letter is written from Sweden by Nils and tells about a trip he made to Sweden, Skåne in 1913. The trip is documented at Ancestry as he is on the passenger list on Imperator, a Steamer going over the Atlantic from Germany to New York. In his letter he describes in detail the complete trip. Later in his letter (1956) he writes it is 43 years since he visited Sweden. The conclusion I draw is he only visited Sweden once since he left in 1890. I also borrowed photos showing Nils when Elsa (daughter to Anna) visited US in beginning of the 50´s. Nils was around 80 years old at the time

However Nils Anton grew up and became a ambitious and hard working man. He worked as carpenter and later on he ran his own small company and he built quite a lot of family houses in Kristianstad area. He also built his own houses and this is one of them (built in the 30´s) still standing in Nosaby.
He married Nelly and had 2 daughters, Britt and Inga.
Nils Anton died in 1977 as a sad and broken man. His mother died in 1955 and his wife, Nelly in 1958. In 1972 his oldest daughter Britt died, quite young (52) in cancer. When I was young I spent a lot of time close to my grandfather. Although I never put any question regarding his father, one didn´t talk that way in the 50 and 60´s. The last 15 year I traveled a lot and lived away from his place so… There is moment in life you want to come back. To put a few question to my grandfather is one!
Nils Anton Family in Sweden is a proud Family. We are around 35 people the oldest is my Aunt Inga-92 and the youngest is my grandchild Lo – 2 months. We all have nice contact and every year we meet at the annual Golf Competition.
